Cyprus evacuated a passenger terminal at Paphos Airport on Monday after a radar detected a suspicious object. A Cypriot government spokesperson said Cyprus canceled a scheduled European Union ministers' meeting for the same day due to an airstrike by drones. Shortly after noon on Monday (10:00 GMT), alarm sirens sounded at the British base, and aircraft took off. Paphos Airport is located on the western coast of the island within the Republic of Cyprus. It is about 60 kilometers from the British Royal Air Force base at Akrotiri, which was targeted by a drone strike overnight.
